SUFC wins again in women’s soccer

Southern United Football Club continued their winning streak in Week 8 of the Flores-Péé Luwal Division of the 2023 Spring Dove Women’s League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Sunday.

They blanked opponent Paire FC, 4-0 as Paire scrambled to conjure up a goal to no avail.

From the opening whistle, SUFC showed why they are on top of the standings as they dominated possession and it didn’t take long for them to take the lead after 14 minutes with a goal made by Angelika Narvaez.

SUFC continued to push forward with wave after wave of attacks as Paire struggled to keep pace and in the 29th minute, Erin Frink made it a 2-0 game.

In the second half, SUFC picked up where they left off and Raenna Ramarui scored their third goal in the 52nd minute with no goals in sight by Paire.

Their fourth and last goal was made in the 56th minute by Keisha Deleon Guerrero and that was all she wrote as Paire could not get on the board.

SUFC has only lost one game, has one draw, and has won five games. Shirley’s and MP United are 4-2-1; Kanoa is at 4-0-3; Paire is at 2-0-5; Matansa is 0-3-4; and Tan Holdings are at 0-2-4.

Matansa FC 2, Shirley’s FC 2 Matansa Football Club and Shirley’s Football Club could not get out of their stalemate and ended their game at a 2-2 draw. Jenna Rose Tenorio from Matansa drew first blood in the 21st minute and was almost immediately answered by a goal from Jeraldine Castillo. In the 1-1 game, silence reigned until Matansa’s Barbara Peteru found the back of the net in the 43rd minute. A minute later, Shirley’s Castillo didn’t hold back as she scored again to even the game 2-2. However, time expired before either team could clinch the W with a tie breaking goal.

MP United FC 2, Kanoa FC 1 MP United Football Club managed to slip past Kanoa Football Club, 2-1. Moriah Sablan scored MPU’s first goal and second goal for a 2-0 game by the 39th minute. When it seemed like all was lost for Kanoa, a goal was made but it was one and done as time ran out and they lost 2-1.
