Southern United FC bests MPU FC in U16 girls
Southern United Football Club bested MPU Football Club, 6-2, in Week 6 of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2022 last Saturday at the Northern Mariana Islands Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Even with MPU drawing first blood in the 10th minute they couldn’t keep the momentum as Southern United’s Pia Newakl scored three minutes later to tie up the game. Newakl found the back of the net again in the 20th minute with Fiona Regan of MPU tying it up again three minutes later.
Newakl finished the hat-trick in the 29th minute after teammate Vaniqa Torres added another goal for a game of 4-2. MPU could not score any more goals as they fell to the Southern United girls, with Brianne Echalico scoring in two more for the final score of 6-2.
Results of the Week 6 U13 boys and girls competitive divisions will be posted in the next edition of Saipan Tribune.
Kanoa FC 15, Paire 0 Kanoa Football Club shut down Paire Football Club, 15-0, in the second U16 girls game of the day. Aubrey Castro of Kanoa scored four of the 15 points for her team; teammates Kaithlyn Chavez and Ye Lynn Ha scored three each, Beatrice Gross and Deseha Mendiola scored two apiece, and Sophia Quintos contributed one. Paire, tried as they might, could not retaliate and ended the game with a goose egg on the board.
U16 BOYS MPU FC 3, Matansa 2 MPU Football Club put one more goal than Matansa to win, 3-2. MPU’s Cody Shimizu put all the goals in for a complete hat-trick, with Sean Gil and Heman Addy scoring the two goals for Matansa. TanHoldings FC, meanwhile, defeated Shirley’s FC via forfeit.
