Shirley’s beats MP United in U16 girls soccer

SHIRLEY’S Football Club collected their second win in the U16 girls division of the 2022 TakeCare Youth Soccer League after outlasting the MP United Football Club, 3-2, Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

In the first half, it was a fairly even match. Shirley’s drew first blood thanks to the quick reaction time of Hailey Benavente as she connected the short-range shot to hand her team the lead, 1-0.

But MP United’s Hangyeol Son seized the spotlight to even the score.

Shirley’s Alyssa Borlongan scored at the 18th minute mark but MP United’s Fiona Regan delivered two minutes later for a 2-2 deadlock at halftime.

During the second half, the action started to slow down as both teams focused more on defense. Eventually, however, Shirley’s Borlongan managed to sneak in a quick shot to give her team the lead, 3-2.

MP United fought hard to even the score but to no avail.

Southern United vs Paire

Joining the winner’s circle was the Southern United Football Club which remains undefeated with three wins after thrashing the Paire Football Club, 21-1.

Summer Manahane, Pia Newakl and Rizza Relucio were Southern United’s biggest assets, scoring several goals throughout the game.

Paire’s lone goal was delivered by Alana Hayes at the 12th minute mark of the first half.
