Kanoa FC, Shirley’s FC undefeated in Premier soccer

Kanoa Football Club and Shirley’s Football Club are currently undefeated coming out of Week 3 in the Tinekcha-Awaal Premier Division of the 2023 Dove Women’s League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Wednesday.

Kanoa blanked NMI U17 WDT, 10-0, in the first game, while Shirley’s out-goaled TakeCare, 6-2.

The barrage of attacks began early as just two minutes into the game, Aubrey Castro scored the first goal.

The girls of the NMI U17 team were not given any chances and it was all Kanoa for the rest of the first half when Ye Lynn Ha kicked two into the goal in the 11th and 16th minute.

Heading into the second half, both teams could not locate the net as the minutes ticked by without a goal. Kanoa was up by three at this point and finally the silence was broken in the 43rd minute by Mary Kay Alfaros, and it became a 4-0 game.

It was back-to-back goals for Kanoa from then on as Castro scored another in the 44th minute, one goal was made by Mia Abuan in the 46th, one in the 49th by Christina Atalig, and one by Kaithlyn Chavez in the 52nd minute.

The girls of the U17 team were running ragged on the pitch as they still could not kick the ball into the net and as the final minutes wound down, Chavez rounded up her goals with a hat trick in the 79th minute, for a 10-0 game.

In the second game of the night, Shirley’s scored the majority of their goals early.

Four goals were made in the first half as Jannah Casarino completed her hat trick by the 28th minute. Rizza Relucio scored one in the 19th minute.

For TakeCare, Tamia Kileleman-Hix scored their first goal in the 10th minute, but their offense went silent after that.

Before TakeCare could even score their second and last goal, Shirley’s scored their fifth goal in the 71st minute made by Relucio.

TakeCare’s Summer Manahane scored their last goal in the 76th minute and Shirley’s Casarino scored their sixth and final goal in the 79th minute.

In the standings, Kanoa and Shirley’s are on top with an identical 2-1-0 record; TakeCare is at 1-0-2; and the NMI U17 team have no wins yet at 0-0-3.
