MPU bags second win in women’s soccer

MP United Football Club earned their second win in the Flores – Pee Luwal (Intermediate) Division of the Dove Women’s League by edging Shirley’s Football Club, 2-1, Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Both teams came in hungry for the win with MPU constantly going for the kill. They gradually wore down SFC’s line of defense and pushed through with Michelle Masga finding the back of the net at the 7th minute mark for a 1-0 lead.

MPU tried to keep the pressure going but Shirley’s quick transition from defense to offense allowed Toremy Diaz to equalize, 1-1.

Undeterred, MPU continued to attack and were rewarded with a second goal at the 15th minute mark thanks to Rachel Salalila to regain the upper hand, 2-1.

Both teams gave it their all for the remainder of the game, but neither could score again. MPU won 2-1.
