MP United, Paire bag wins in women’s soccer

MP United Football Club and Paire Football Club bagged wins after Week 11 of the Flores-Péé Luwal Division of the 2023 Spring Dove Women’s League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Sunday.

MP United made light work of Tan Holdings FC as they won, 4-0, while Paire did the same with Matansa FC, 2-0.

The first minutes of MP United and Tan Holdings’ game was a quiet one as both teams rummaged through the pitch without anything to show for their efforts. Then, in the 22nd minute, MP United’s Erlinda Shimizu broke through the silence and scored their first goal.

Tan Holdings could not keep pace with MP United at this point as just five minutes later, Michelle Ann Masga made it a 2-0 game before the second half.

The second half came and Tan Holdings tried to put even one up on the board to no avail. MP United beat them to it as Masga scored their third goal and her second of the game in the 43rd minute.

With time running out and still no goals for Tan Holdings, Masga completed the hat-trick in the 59th minute and closed out the game, 4-0.

In Paire’s game earlier in the afternoon, Matansa also went blank as both teams struggled to net a goal.

The 14th minute saw action when Paire’s Megumi West found the back of the net for the first goal.

It went silent after that as both teams duked it out on the pitch but went scoreless until the second half.

Sharlette Casil made it a 2-0 game in the 37th minute when she slipped the ball through Matansa’s goal and it was enough to get the W as Matansa could not charge past a mighty Paire defense.

The other game between Shirley’s and Kanoa ended in a 3-3 draw.

Shirley’s Mikayla Lopez scored two goals in the first and 11th minute, while her teammate Jeraldine Castillo scored their third and last goal in the 51st minute.

For Kanoa, Ye Lynn Ha scored their two goals before the first half ended. Their third goal was made in the 55th minute just in the nick of time to tie up the game. Time ran out and both teams had no more goals in them as the game ended in a 3-3 draw.

In the standings, Shirley’s lead with a 6-3-1 record; MP United is a close second with a 6-2-1 record; Southern United FC is at 6-1-2; Kanoa has a 4-1-5 slate; Paire is at 4-0-5; Tan Holdings is 1-2-6; and Matansa have yet to win with 0-3-7.
