MP United doubles Tan Holdings, 6-3


MP United Football Club doubled Tan Holdings Football Club’s score for a 6-3 game in Week 10 of the TakeCare NMIFA Youth Spring League 2023 last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Ian Song from MPU drew first blood after a quiet 17 minutes in the first half. Anthony Bergancia of Tan Holdings replied with a shot of his own in the 23rd minute.


It was an even match throughout as both sides could not find the net until Tan Holdings’ Emerson Brillo broke through in the 32nd minute.

From then on, it was a free for all for MPU as Song scored his second goal, followed by two goals from Cody Shimizu for a 5-2 game. Their sixth goal was made before Tan Holdings could score their third goal in the 80th minute.


Kanoa FC 7, Matansa 1 Kanoa Football Club out goaled Matansa, 7-1. A first half shot in the 12th minute was the only goal by Matansa from Jayson Bisek.

Kanoa’s Paul Lizama scored a hat-trick plus one more in the 8th, 22nd, 57th, and 71st minute.

Teammates Tyler Omelau, Sean Gil, and Yeonsoo Kim contributed the team’s three other goals.

Top seed Kanoa is facing off with No. 3 MPU in the semifinals on May 6; after, No. 2 seed Tan Holdings is going against number 4 seed Matansa. The finals are scheduled for May 13 at 8pm.


17U GIRLS 8X8 SUFC 21, Paire FC 2 The Southern United Football Club 17U girls have put up big numbers in their last couple of games—this time, blowing out Paire FC, 21-2.

Pia Newakl bagged a game high with goals; Summer Manahane racked up six goals; Rosie Saralu had four; Rizza Relucio kicked in two; and Brianne Echalico scored one.

The two goals from Paire were made by Martha Culp in the 12th minute and Tsubakiko Joab in the 50th.


Kanoa FC 7, MPU FC 1 Kanoa won a lopsided 7-1 game against MPU FC.

The only goal from MPU came in the second half by Irin Chung after Kanoa scored all their goals already.

Kanoa’s goals were made by Elikristiana Iglesias, two by Deseha Mendiola, two by Beatrice Gross, and another two by Ye Lynn Ha.

In the championship tourney, Shirley’s and Paire will face off on April 29; SUFC will take on MPU FC right after; on May 6, winner of the Shirley’s-Paire game will then challenge Kanoa. The finals are scheduled for May 13.
