Hana FC tops Matansa FC in MSL


Hana FC had an auspicious start in the Marianas Soccer League Fall Season 2022 after beating Matansa FC, 4-2, in Division B last Friday at the Northern Marianas Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

The game started out with a slow burn with neither team able to get the ball past either side’s goalies.


The first goal finally lit through the field in the 12th minute, made by Ace Lee of Hana FC. Then, the ball shot from one end of the field to the next, with Lee scoring again just six minutes later.

Lee completed the hat-trick, as he torched the ball through the goal posts for one more goal after Matansa’s Gabriel Arkoh Jr. scored one, for a score of 3-1.

Further on in the heated game, Scott Kim of Hana FC was handed a yellowcard for rough play against Matansa.

Later, Lee continued his hot streak, igniting the ball for the fourth and last time to put their team up, 4-1. Matansa came burning through a little late as they scored their final goal in the 53rd minute, made by Juhn Tenorio.

The Hana FC players for the night were Byung In Lee, Sang Hyun Chun, Sang Hun Lee, Boaz Lim, Paul Jang, Don Cabrera, Khan Lee, Marcus Ahn, Byeoung Seon Oh, Matthew Ong, Ace Lee, Scott Kim, Edwin Kim, and Cody Leon.


Shirley’s FC 3, Old B Bank 0 Shirley’s FC dominated the field, shutting down Old B Bank, 3-0, in the other Division B game of the night.

Sean Gil carried his team, scoring two goal—one in the first half, and the other in the second half.

Ho Jin Woo chipped in one goal toward the end of the game for the final 3-0 score.


WNT Developmental Team 4, Chang Bai Hu FC 2 The last Division B game of the night was WNT Development Team’s win over Chang Bai Hu FC, 4-2.

The women of the Development Team made mincemeat of the Chang Bai Hu ladies and gents as early on Khristelle Itaas scored the first goal in the seventh minute.

Chang Bai Hu would score 17 minutes later, with their last-ditch effort at 54 minutes in, for only two goals.

Pia Ngewakl, Kaithlyn Chavez, and Audrey Castro scored the three other goals for the WNT Developmental Team, for a final score of 4-2.

DIVISION A Paire FC 2, Eleven Tiger 0

In the second day of the Marianas Soccer League Fall Season 2022, Paire FC and Eleven Tiger duked it out in the A Division, with Paire getting the better of Eleven Tiger, 2-0, last Sunday at the Northern Marianas Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
