FMS wins interscholastic girls soccer title

FRANCISCO M. Sablan Middle School blanked Saipan International School 3-0 to claim the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Girls Middle School Soccer League championship on Saturday morning at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

FMS played as the aggressor from start to finish and it worked in their favor, allowing them to control the pace of the game.

After just eight minutes of back-and-forth action, FMS created an opportunity for Rosie Saralu to score a goal for a 1-0 lead.

SIS were quick to adjust their defensive strategy and successfully held FMS at bay for the remainder of the opening half. However, they remained scoreless as well.

FMS continued with their aggressive game plan in the second half.

Soon, their quick setup earned FMS their second goal courtesy of Saralu, again, for a 2-0 lead.

SIS tried to fight back and had several close calls, but FMS defended well and were on the offfensive once again with Saralu scoring at the 49th minute mark for the hat-trick to seal the win 3-0.

Saralu was named the Finals Most Valuable Player and the Golden Boot awardee for scoring 12 goals in three matches.
