Knights thrash Tatagas in MS soccer

Mount Carmel School came back after their loss against Saipan International School to defeat Tanapag Middle School, 7-0, in Group B of the 2022-2023 NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League last Tuesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

With the win, the Knights leveled their record to 1-1, while the Tatagas went down to 0-2 in the standings.

The Knights recuperated and came back with a vengeance with an early run and attacks at the goal, to score in the first four minutes of the game, courtesy of Elijah De Belen.

The Tatagas gave it their all as they tried to navigate through the tough Knight defenders, making swipes at the goal but came up empty in their attempts.

This gave the Knights opportunities to score throughout the game, as they ran through the field, dodging Tatagas defenders, and collecting four goals in the first half and three goals in the second half.

Jason and Arstin Tagabuel collected two goals each, while Julio Monseratt and Shakir Taher made one goal each.

Aside from De Belen, Monserrat, Taher, and the Tagabuels, the rest of the Knights are Donald Tagabuel, Akoni Matsumoto, Kaden Propst, and Pedro Tomokane. SIS 5, HMS-1 1 In the other Group B game of the day, Saipan International School continued their winning streak as they won their second game over Hopwood Middle School 1, 5-1.

Leonard Delemarle of SIS found the back of the net early, scoring a goal in the first minute, while the Hilitais were just getting their footing.

Moshe Sikkel had a go at the net and commandeered the ball to score two goals, putting up the Geckos 3-0.

The Hilitais have yet to score when, 32 minutes into the game, Theo Joab scored another goal to widen their lead to 4-0. Their last goal was made by Sean Park, 48 minutes into the game.

Only then did the Hilitais respond, but it was a little too late as Branson Santos found the back of the net 49 minutes into the game that made sure HMS didn’t go scoreless.

It was all over when the Hilitais had no more goals to give as the clock ticked down to the final minutes, with SIS claiming victory, 5-1.

The Geckos are still undefeated with two wins and the Hilitais 1 are at one win and one loss.
