Kanoa defeats Shirley’s in U16 girls soccer

KANOA Football Club remains the top team in the U16 girls division of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League after bagging their third consecutive win by blanking Shirley’s Football Club 3-0 Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

Kanoa’s biggest asset was their teamwork and they made sure to put it to use as they controlled most of the possession throughout the game.

As the aggressor, they filled the first half with a handful of shot attempts but failed to deliver as Shirley’s managed to stand their ground and protect their end of the field.

However, in time, Kanoa’s constant assault broke through and they were finally rewarded at the 24th minute mark with Kaleen Leemarvin highlighting the finish for a 1-0 lead.

Kanoa continued to play hard in the second half and kept the momentum burning with two more goals.

Leemarvin remained Kanoa’s biggest threat, scoring her second goal at the 35th minute mark and her third seven minutes later to extend her team’s lead, 3-0.

Although Shirley’s prevented most of the incoming attacks, they remained scoreless for the entire game.

MP United vs Paire

MP United Football Club joined the winner’s circle as they clinched their first win of the season by edging Paire Football Club 4-3.

MP applied pressure early, and after just five minutes of back-and-forth action, Fiona Regan scored a goal.

At the 13th minute mark, Irin Chung seized the spotlight as she slipped through to find the back of the net and extend MP United’s lead, 2-0.

Paire then turned defense into offense with Justidy Mizutani at the frontline for the finish at the 21st minute mark.

Paire took over the early part of the second half and created an opening at the 26th minute mark for Teneasha Diaz who sliced in a shot to even the score 2-2.

But MP United eventually cooled down the flames thanks to Regan and Chung whose goals gave their team a comfortable lead, 4-2.

Paire then went all-out in the final few minutes of the game and nearly pulled another rally as Mizutani scored a goal at the 41st minute mark.

However, MP United used the time to their advantage and held onto their lead to triumph 4-3.
