Two in a row for Matansa in Youth Spring League



Matansa Football Club notched back-to-back wins in the 2022 TakeCare NMIFA Youth Spring League to grab a share of the lead in the boys U13 division of the competition last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Matansa, which shut down MP United Football Club-2 in its spring debut, 3-0, this time defeated TanHoldings FC, 3-1, to join MPU United-1 on top of the standings early into the season.


Anton Megino scored two goals for Matansa, while Prince Espiritu made the other goal for the team. Emerson Brillo delivered the lone goal for TanHoldings, which has yet to break into the win column after three games as it absorbed its second loss and has one draw.

Kanoa 7, Shirley’s 3

Kanoa got its first victory of the season after downing Shirley’s.

Akoni Matsumoto led the win after firing a hat-trick for Kanoa, while Rooney Gil added two, and Aldric Antonio and Ryder Mendiola contributed one apiece.

All of Shirley’s goals were courtesy of Bennet Haro, as the team remains winless after three games. Kanoa, on the other hand, improved to a 1-1-1 record.

MP United-1 4, Paire 3 MP United-1 nosed out Paire for a 2-0-0 mark. Taiga Namai-Scoggins drilled a hat-trick for MP United, while Moshe Sikkel scored the go-ahead goal to hand Paire its first loss of the season. Dyson Danis nailed a pair for Paire, which drew one goal from Rodney Junior Tomei.


BOYS U16 Matansa 5, Kanoa 2 Matansa also triumphed in the boys U16 game after outclassing Kanoa. Jerome Mettao and Jack Lizama posted two goals apiece, while Wataru Kadokura added one for Matansa, which got its first win after three matches. Kanoa suffered its first setback in three games with only Jason Tagabuel and Izeah Jolo scoring for the squad.

TanHoldings 1, MP United 0 TanHoldings leads the division as it improved to a 3-0-0 slate after nipping MP United. Anthony Bergancia registered the lone goal in the match. TanHoldings will try to stretch its win streak to three this Saturday when it takes on Kanoa.

Shirley’s FC 3, Paire 0 Shirley’s bagged win No. 1 this season after blanking Paire. Benneton Haro logged a pair of goals for Shirley’s, while his brother contributed one. Shirley’s hopes to make it two in a row this Saturday when it duels MP United.
