Southern United FC, Matansa FC rule 1st day of spring league


Southern United Football Club and Matansa Football Club barged into the season opener of the TakeCare NMIFA Youth Spring League 2023 with a winning mentality as they defeated their foes last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

The girls of Southern United FC in the U14 girls division dominated Shirley’s FC, 8-1, while in the U14 boys division, Matansa FC defeated Shirley’s FC, 7-2.

SUFC’s Rosie Saralu—2022 Fall season’s U13 Golden Boot winner—led the team with five goals as she tries to make a run for another Golden Boot this season.

Teammates Brianne Echalico and Jadine Higgins assisted the team with a goal each, before Shirley’s Alyssa Borlongan scored her team’s lone goal. Selena Atalig added the eighth goal for SUFC in the 38th minute.

In the U14 boys game, Matansa’s Anton Megino double fired at the goal for two goals only two minutes apart, followed by a goal by Justin Garden.

Shirley’s Mayten Pino then found an opening in the 15th minute to put one up on the board. An own goal was then made for a tied 2-2 game, but fortunately, three more goals were made by Matansa to secure the lead and win the game.

MP United FC Team-2 Pink 6, Kanoa FC Team-2 1 MP United FC Team-2 beat Kanoa FC Team-2, 6-1, led by Taiga Namai-Scoggins’ hat-trick.

Teammate Moshe Sikkel drew first blood a minute into the game then it was radio silent after that. Minato Takahashi then broke the silence in the 15th minute, followed by Landon Springer Jordan’s goal, then Namai-Scoggin’s consecutive hat trick.

Only Jude Rayphand from Kanoa FC got a nip at the goal in the 21st minute and they were not able to score anymore.

MP United FC Team-1 Blue 2, Tan Holdings FC-1 MP United FC’s Blue team also won their game against Tan Holdings FC, 2-1.

Seo “Stephen” Yeom scored both goals in the 14th and 28th minute, while Emerson Brillo scored Tan Holdings’ lone goal in the 17th minute. U14 GIRLS 5V5 Tan Holdings FC 5, Paire FC 1 Tan Holdings Football Club rushed through Paire Football Club, 5-1.

Xyriel Pascual drew first blood and completed the hat-trick in the 36th minute, while teammates Alyza De Belen and Angel Calayag added two goals. Phoenix Gross scored the lone goal for Paire in the 22nd minute.

Meanwhile, Kanoa Football Club won over Matansa Football Club Via forfeit.
