Shirley’s nips Southern United




Shirley’s Football Club nosed out Southern United FC, 3-2, to take the early lead in the Flores-Pee’ Luwal A Division of the Dove Women’s League Spring 2022 last Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Former national player Alexa Vergara nailed the game-winner for Shirley’s in the 46th minute, while Jeraldine Castillo scored the other goal for the team. Shirley’s was credited with an own goal, while Southern’s pair came from Elena Stutzman and Reanna Ramarui.


With the victory, Shirley’s improved to a 2-0-0 win-draw-loss record to lead Southern (1-0-1), MP United (0-1-1), and Paire-1 (0-1-1).

Paire-1 and MP United played in the other game in the division and settled for a scoreless draw to remain in the hunt for their first win of the season.

In Flores-Pee’ Luwal B Division, Matansa FC is unbeaten in two games following a 5-3 triumph over TanHoldings FC last Friday.

Barbara Peteru recorded two goals for Matansa, which got one apiece from Melissa Borja, Alleny Tenorio, and Tawny Barcinas. TanHoldings, on the other hand, drew its goals from Neriah Lumbad, Maria Masha, and Ma. Leo Ann Hix.

In the other match in the division, Kanoa shut down Paire-2, 2-0, to earn its first win of the season.

Paire’s two goals all came in the second half, courtesy of Ana Mendiola and Kuli Sablan’s conversion in the 46th and 51st minute, respectively.


TINEKCHA-AWAAL DIVISION Kanoa 5, Shirley’s 0

Kanoa was also victorious in the Tinekcha-Awaal game last Wednesday after dominating Shirley’s. Allyssya Angeles and Kaithlyn Chavez teamed up in the easy win after making two goals apiece. Angeles scored in the ninth and 35th and, while Chavez delivered the last two goals for Kanoa after hitting the board in the 40th and 43rd. Irish Pagarao recorded the first goal for Kanoa in the 11th minute. Kanoa leads the division with its 2-0-0 slate, while Shirley’s holds a 1-0-1 card.


TakeCare 4, Southern United 0

TakeCare broke into the win column after blanking Southern United last week. Britany Wally paced TakeCare with her pair of goals, while Lily Muldoon and Bernadette Horey chipped in one apiece.
