MP United, Kanoa FC blank opponents in women’s soccer
MP United Football Club and Kanoa Football Club both blanked their opponents in Week 12 of the Flores-Péé Luwal Division of the 2023 Spring Dove Women’s League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Sunday.
MP United is on top of the standings after they defeated Paire FC, 2-0, as Kanoa FC also blanked Matansa, 3-0.
It was Loriann Rabe of MP United’s day as she sprinted to and fro on the pitch and made both goals. She opened up the game as she scored her first goal just five minutes into it. After the first half, she did not slow down as she found the back of the net again in the 32nd minute.
Paire’s offense was shut down as they were not able to penetrate MP United’s defenses and succumbed to defeat without putting a goal on the board.
Kanoa FC dealt a similar blow to the winless Matansa team as Matansa could not find their way to the net through the whole game.
Mary Kay Alferos scored the first goal in the 14th minute and that was it for the first half.
Both teams struggled on the pitch throughout the rest of the first half and until the 51st minute when finally, Aubrey White scored the second goal.
Matansa made some attempts at the goal but none of them stuck and by the 58th minute, Kanoa had scored another goal by way of Jane Malabanan’s cleats. Matansa remained scoreless for the rest of the game and was handed their eight loss of the season.
The second game of the day went to Southern United FC as they defeated Tan Holdings, 1-0.
SUFC’s Rosie Saralu scored the lone goal in the 25th minute of the game. Both teams could not find the net after that and the win went to SUFC.
In the standings, MP United leads with a 7-2-1 record; SUFC is close second with a 7-1-2 record; Shirley’s is third with 6-3-1; Kanoa is at 5-1-5; Paire is 4-0-6; Tan Holdings is 1-2-7; and Matansa has yet to win with 0-3-8.
