Kanoa, Southern FC hammer foes


Kanoa Football Club and Southern United FC had a walk in the park last Saturday after crushing their respective opponents in the girls U16 division of the TakeCare NMIFA Youth Spring League 2022 In the first match in the division at the NMI Soccer Training Center, Kanoa whipped Paire FC, 9-0, to remain unbeaten in five games and keep the lead in the group.

Kaithlyn Chavez and Audrey Castro each scored three goals to lift Kanoa past Paire, while Sophia Quintos added two, and Mia Abuan made one. In the other lopsided game, Pia Ngewakl nailed five goals to power Southern to a 10-0 rout of MP United FC. With the easy victory, Southern United stays within striking distance of Kanoa, as the former improved to a 4-0-1 win-draw-loss record. Summer Manahane chipped in three in the win, while Tamia Hix scored the two other goals for Southern United.


GIRLS U13

Southern United 8, MPU 0 Southern United is also ahead in the girls U13 division after topping MP United. Selena Atalig and Briannie Echalico tallied four goals apiece to hand Southern the win and a division best 5-0-1 record. Paire holds the same mark and got its fifth victory in six games after TanHoldings-2 forfeited last weekend’s game.


Matansa 2 TanHoldings-1 earned win No. 4 after outclassing Matansa. Kay Anne Costales and Shaina Malonza delivered two goals apiece for TanHoldings-1, which got one goal from Xyriel Pascual and was awarded an own goal. Matansa was also credited an own goal, while its other goal came from Alyssa Borlongan.


Kanoa-1 2, Kanoa-2 1 In the battle between sister teams, Kanoa-1 edged Kanoa-2. Lina Tsukagoshi and Elikristiana Iglecias scored for Kanoa-1, while Kanoa-2’s lone goal was courtesy of Ajejandra Manabat.
