Guam beats NMI twice in U14 soccer
GUAM’S U14 players defeated their NMI counterparts in two training matches on Monday and Tuesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
On Monday, the NMI had a strong start but was eventually overwhelmed by Guam which won, 6-3.
The NMI drew first blood early in the first half when Moshe Sikkel found the back of the net in the 7th minute.
However, Guam quickly recovered and retaliated with three goals — two by Chima Mbakwen at the 14th and 25th marks while Kansuke Ishii scored in the 17th minute.
In the second half, the NMI tried to catch up with Maximus Taitano scoring in the 30th minute, but Guam’s Stephen Rioja scored as well four minutes later.
The NMI’s Stephen Yeom delivered his team’s third goal before Guam sealed the deal with back-to-back goals, thanks to Leonard Kaee III, to triumph 6-3.
Game 2
During the second game on Tuesday, Guam managed to keep the NMI silent in the first half while Trystan Santos and Chima Mbakwen contributed a goal each at the 4th and 9th minute marks for a 2-0 advantage.
Guam’s lead continued to grow in the second half as Peter Barcinas added the third goal at the 33rd minute mark.
Five minutes later, the NMI finally scored courtesy of Anton Megino, but Guam followed up with a goal at the 43rd minute to remain ahead, 4-1.
Guam delivered their fifth goal at the 58th minute mark but before they settled for defeat, the NMI’s Sikkel squeezed in one more goal to ease the pain, 2-5.
