FMS beats Hopwood 2 in MS soccer opener


Francisco M. Sablan Middle School made mincemeat of Hopwood Middle School 2, 13-1, on Day 2 of the 2022-2023 NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League last Tuesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Within the first eight minutes of the game, De’Anthony Aldan of FMS scored three goals, carrying the team to a 3-0 lead. By the time Hopwood 2 found the back of the net in the 28th minute, FMS already scored 10 goals.


In total, Aldan scored the majority of the goals, with seven. Daniel Sano contributed two goals, Jairoh Guilas scored three goals, and Jerz Navarro scored one.

After that game, Saipan Community School won over forfeit against Seventh Day Adventist School, 3-0.

So far in the standings, FMS in Group A leads with a record of 1-0. Hopwood 2 of Group B is at 0-1.

The only Group A school that has yet to play is Tanapag Middle School 1.

Group B schools that have yet to play are Saipan International School, TMS 2, Hopwood 1, and Mount Carmel School. KES3, WSR 1 The elementary school games started off the first day of the 2022-2023 PSS interscholastic soccer league last Monday, with Koblerville Elementary School winning over William S. Reyes, 3-1.

Napu Pangelinan carried the team to victory with his three goals, one after the other, in the first 11 minutes of the game. The only score from WSR was made by Landin Reyes.

GCA 8, MCS-1, 0 Grace Christian Academy, meanwhile, scored goals aplenty while keeping Mount Carmel School scoreless, 8-0.

Sarang Lee scored half of the team’s goals, while Princess Sariol and Pedro Taitano scored two each.

After that game, Garapan Elementary School came out on top against Mount Carmel School 2, winning the match 6-3.

SVES-1 5, SIS-1 1 San Vicente Elementary School outplayed SIS, 5-1, with Jude Rayphand scoring three out of the five goals.

Dominic Canete-Ealy scored two goals for the team.

The only goal for SIS was made by Cooper Koening.

GTC-1 7, OES 3 Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School came out in a rush to score and win over Oleai Elementary School , 7-3.

Brandon Teigita scored the first four goals and Javin Deleon Guerrero took over and scored the last three.

GES-1 16, SCS 0 In the last game of the day, Garapan Elementary School blew Saipan Community School out of the water, 16-0.

Almost the whole roster contributed a goal, but Kanoa Owens scored the most with five goals.
