Contrasting wins for MPU, Kanoa



Kanoa Football Club took the solo lead, while MP United Football broke into the win column as the two teams prevailed in the girls U16 division matches in the 2022 spring season of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Kanoa got its third win in as many games following a 3-0 shutout victory over Shirley’s FC. Kanoa is so far the only undefeated team early in the season and is ahead of Southern United FC (1-0-1 win-draw-loss record), MP United (1-0-1), Shirley’s (0-1-1), and Paire Football Club (0-0-3).


Kaleen Leemarvin handed Kanoa its third straight win after making a hat-trick against Shirley’s. Her first goal came in the 24 th minute, while the last two were recorded in the 35th and 42nd.

In the other game in the division, MP United bagged its first win of the season after nosing out Paire.

Fiona Regan fired two goals for MP United, which drew one apiece from Irin Chung and Yelin Park. Regan earned her pair in the fifth and 29th minute, while Chung hit the board in the 13th minute, and Park provided the insurance in the 31st.

Justidy Mizutani also scored two goals for Paire with her first coming in the 21st minute and the second 20 minutes later. Teneasha Diaz tallied the other goal for Paire when she found the back of the net in the 26th minute.

GIRLS U13 DIVISION TanHoldings FC-1 5, MP United 0 Xyriel Jade Pascual powered TanHoldings FC-1 to an easy win over MP United.

Pascual posted four goals to lift TanHoldings FC-1 to an unbeaten 3-0-0 record, while Elissa Calayag contributed one. MP United, after failing to lit up the board, absorbed its third loss in as many matches.

Matansa 6, TanHoldings FC-2 2 Matansa duplicated TanHoldings FC-1’s perfect record after downing TanHoldings FC-2.

Alyssa Borlongan crushed TanHoldings FC-2 after scoring all six goals for Matansa, while the losings squad’s pair of goals came from Alyza De Belen.

Paire 4, Kanoa FC-2 1 Paire recorded win No. 2 after outclassing Kanoa FC.

Beatrice Gross led Paire’s second victory after earning a hat-trick, while Mizutani scored the other goal. Maria Quidato made the lone goal for Kanoa FC-2.

Southern United 2, Kanoa FC-1 0 Southern United also notched its second victory of the season following a shutout win over Kanoa FC-1.

Rosie Saralu logged the two goals for Southern United.
