Tan Holdings thumps WPE

TanHoldings Football Club pounded Winners & Pacific Eco, 6-1, in their Division A game in the 2018 Spring M-League last Sunday at the Hopwood Middle School Field.

Jershwin Angeles made a hat trick to power TanHoldings to the easy victory—the team’s second in three games. With its 2-1-0 win-draw-loss mark, TanHoldings shadows idle MP United (3-0-0) and grabs the second spot from Paire (2-1-1). Okadaya (1-1-2), Teen Ayuyus (0-3-1), WPE (0-1-2), and Kanoa (0-1-2) complete the standings.

TanHoldings set up the lopsided win after going all out in the second half, which started with the squad ahead by only one behind the penalty shot of Sean Perez in the 12th minute. TanHoldings’ second goal was also off a penalty with Angeles converting his kick in the 57th minute. Then a minute later, Ensik Choi handed WPE its lone goal in the match.

Perez gave TanHoldings more breathing room with his second goal in the 65th minute, while Angeles hit back-to-back—76th and 83rd—to widen the cap before Joshua Deleon closed out for the winning team in the 86th.

In other results in the division, Okadaya got its first victory of the season, while the Teen Ayuyus and Paire played in a scoreless draw.

Okadaya made it to the win column after downing Kanoa, 3-1.

Yoshi Mafnas knocked in all the goals for Okadaya with his first goal registered in the 33rd minute and the last two in the 37th and 88th. Merrick Tover averted a shutout loss for Kanoa when he scored in the 39th minute.

DIVISION B KFAS 5, Sun Palace 2 Korean Football Association kept its undefeated record (4-0-0) after beating Sun Palace in the first game at the Koblerville Elementary School Field. Oliver Lee delivered a pair of goals for KFAS, while Banseok Kim, Jang Su Oh, and Edwim Kim contributed one each. Lee dropped his brace in the first half, while Banseok and Oh also hit the board in the opening 45 minutes of play for KFAS’ 4-2 halftime edge. Guo Ha Hou and Feng Yu scored the two goals for Sun Palace, which fell at the bottom half of the team standings with its 1-1-2 card.

U16 WNT 3, Shirley’s 2 The CNMI U16 Women’s National Team (2-1-1) climbed up to a tie for second to third place in the team rankings after slipping past Shirley’s (1-0-3). Janelle Chognaki, Jimmy Tang, and Paulynn Joyce lit up the board for WNT in the 11th, 17th, and 51st minute, respectively. Jeralyn Castillo and Heng Guo Piao tallied the pair of goals for Shirley’s with the former hitting her target in the 53rd and the latter in the 69th.

Matansa 5, PIC 2 Matansa also earned a 2-1-1 mark following its victory over cellar-dweller Pacific Islands Club (0-1-3).

Amzad Khan led Matansa to its second win of the season after recording a hat trick. He drilled back-to-back goals when he scored in the eight and 10th minute and gave Matansa a 2-1 advantage. PIC drew first blood, courtesy of Juanito Tiamzon’s shot in the second minute. A Matansa own goal then handed the eventual winning team a 3-1 advantage at the break. Another Tiamzon goal 14 minutes into the second half kept PIC in the game, 2-3, however Hamid Kawsar countered in the 70th to give Matansa more distance. Khan then completed his hat trick in the 76th minute to end PIC’s hopes for a comeback.
