KFAS earns solo lead in Division B

Korean Football Association on Saipan made it two in a row after outclassing the CNMI Women’s U16 National Team, 4-2, during their Division B game in the 2018 Spring M-League last Sunday at the Koblerville Elementary School Field.

With its 2-0-0 win-loss-draw record, KFAS sits alone at the top of the team standings early this season leading Matansa (1-1-0), Sun Palace (1-1-0), Pacific Islands Club (0-1-1), U16 WNT (0-1-1), and Shirley’s Football Club (0-0-2).

Juan Oh knocked in a pair of goals for KFAS in the first half with his first recorded in the 29th minute and the second two minutes later to hand their team a 3-0 halftime lead. Hwapyoung Kim posted KFAS’ other goal in the first half when he hit the board in the 38th minute, while Edwin Kim closed out for the squad in the 53rd.

Mikky Vargas and Mae Ito nailed the two goals for the U16 WNT in the second half with the former finding her target in the 46th minute and the latter in the 54th.

Sun Palace 8, PIC 1 In the first game, Sun Palace eased past PIC. Sun Palace broke the game wide open in the second half to make it to the win column after a draw with Matansa during the league’s opening week. Daniel Mar Pablo powered Sun Palace to the lopsided win after scoring four goals. He had two of Sun Palace’s five goals in the second half. Jack Phan chipped in two, while Hugo Kan tallied the other one. Sun Palace got an own goal off PIC’s booboo. PIC’s lone goal came from Albert Bergancia.

Matansa 8, Shirley’s 1 Matansa duplicated Sun Palace’s easy victory after dominating Shirley’s in the second game at the KES pitch. Kamrul Kamrul and Amzad Khan registered two goals apiece in Matansa’s first win of the season, while Gabriel Arkoh, Daniel Day Duenas, Jacob Montes, and Rassel Fnu recorded one each. Shirley’s averted a shutout loss, thanks to Jerry Tan’s goal in the second half.

DIVISION A

MP United 5, Paire 1 MP United took the lead in the division following a win over Paire in the curtain-raiser at the Hopwood Middle School Field. MP United (2-0-0) is ahead of TanHoldings (1-1-0), Paire (1-01), Winners & Pacific Eco (0-1-0), Okadaya (0-1-1), Teen Ayuyus (0-1-1), and Kanoa (0-0-1). Sunjoon Tenorio lifted MP United to its second victory in as many games after delivering a hat trick, while the club’s two other goals were courtesy of Anthony Fruit and Skyler Poon. Jonathan Takano scored the only goal for Paire.

Winners & Pacific Eco. 2, Teen Ayuyus 2 The Teens Ayuyus spoiled Winners & Pacific Eco.’s debut in the league after forcing a draw in the last match at the Hopwood pitch. Rintaro Miyawaki drilled the pair of goals for the Teen Ayuyus’ with his last in the 83rd minute tying the match. His first goal was recorded in the 43rd minute. Junsik Kim and Ensik Choi scored for Winners & Pacific Eco. in the 53rd and 34th minute, respectively. Meanwhile, the second game in the division had TanHoldings and Okadaya settling for a scoreless draw.
